Spiritual

Serving in a spiritual ministry is a small commitment for you to make. However, it is a large contribution toward making St. Alphonsus a welcoming community. You already attend Mass each weekend, why not share the hospitality you have experienced with others? When we see a diverse group of liturgical ministers serving at Mass, it reminds us of our belonging and our equality in Christ.

Liturgical Ministry

Give the gift of your time as an Extraordinary Minister, Server, or Lector during weekend Masses. A brief training session is required.

Ushers

The ministry of ushers is the oldest lay ministry in the  Catholic Church. The ushers of today have descended from a long line of people of God who have gone before them. During the time of Christ, the doorkeepers of the temple numbered in the hundreds and were the forerunners of today's ushers. This ministry is open to all parishioners. As an usher, you will welcome parishioners and visitors as they enter for worship, assist in the seating of parishioners and guests, take up the Offertory collection, and wish everyone a good day at the conclusion of the celebration of the Mass.

Children's Liturgy of the Word / Iglesia Infantil

We invite children who are 4-11 years old to go to the Chapel of the Word located in the Festival Hall during Mass on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. (Spanish) to listen to the Word of God in a way they can understand and appreciate. Children will be invited to meet at the baptismal font and will return to their families during the presentation of gifts. Parents are welcome to accompany younger children downstairs until they are comfortable going on their own.

Adults are welcome to serve as leaders of Children’s Liturgy of the Word/Iglesia Infantil.
